Subway

Print design

Design brief:

Use lines & typography to drive a new design for the Glasgow Subway Map.

  • 2x Photoshop files with layers

  • 2x Illustrator files with layers

  • 1x A1 poster

I redesigned the subway map in the style of Graffiti/Street art. This idea came from research on subways and I found out that this is where this style of artwork was invented. I used a mixture of real spayed stencils and digital recreations to make the finished piece.

HND YEAR 2

Taking the theme of 'fire' that is key to this story I designed my book to look like a smoke detector. The books sleeve looked like the outer casing of the detector while the cover of the book looked like the inners (circuit board) I built in a working alarm to the cover so when the test button on the sleeve is pressed an alarm sounded.

HND YEAR 2

I design the Logo to represent an artist’s signature and the packaging around a tube of paint from the L'Artisan theme. My poster is based on a Op Art inspired design to make it eye catching, this is then carried through to the packaging and website.

My design is based around two figures created using a low polygon technique to symbolise the students looking up to the future, leaving the college behind and becoming complete in the process. They can also be interpreted as looking at the exhibition work.

  • 1x A3 Poster

  • 1x A5 double sided invite

HND YEAR 2

I designed the building wrap with figures created using a low polygon Photoshop technique to symbolise the design students who use the building.  I want to use them to ask the question ‘what are they looking up at?’ .Their is no obvious answer but it could get the viewer thinking. The low poly background has been made using the 4 coulours in the WCS college logo.
